And Now, A Word From Dr. Seuss…

in
"And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow,
stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so?

It came without ribbons.

It came without tags.

It came without packages, boxes or bags.

And he puzzled and puzzled 'till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before.

'What if Christmas', he thought, 'doesn't come from a store.
What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more?' "

And now, a few words from me...

Stop.

Take a deep breath.

Christmas isn't about toys, gifts, or stuff.

Christmas is about relationships.

Keep that in mind as you shop, cook, wrap, and ship.
(Think of the alternative!)

Now, don't you feel better?

As my sister told her sons "Jesus only got three presents, and none used batteries!"

She also instituted the three present rule. Santa always brought one or two. And she and her husband would give one to each person too. (She knew there was extended family who would fill in the spaces.)

On our end of things, we celebrate the "big day" with a birthday cake and sing "Happy Birthday" so that we don't forget who's birthday it is!

What a great idea! It keeps the 'gift clutter' down during the weeks after Christmas... a few well-chosen presents are more appreciated, I think, than a pile of generic presents.
